Male and female

1. I believe that the masculine ideals are to look as though they are a plastic action figure dur to the fact that in magazines that is all that is seen when looking at noraml day life. On televison, in magazines, even just walking in the park, this type of look can be seen everywhere. It has been put into the minds of many guys from an early age that bigger muscle is sexier and flab is out. So growing up my good friend next door would always tell me that when he grows up he wants to be big like the guys he sees on t.v. becasue then pretty women will like him.

As for female ideals, the skinnier the better is what is in. When I was little i would always want to look like the girls that I saw on t.v. I was never happy with what I looked like becasue the girl always got the "hot" guy with her "hot" body. People see that being skinny is better becasue all the advertisements for clothes are usuually modeled by young and slender people. This is a horrible way to look at things but it is what it is. People think that what they see is beautiful and what they are is not becasue they do not match what they see.

This disturbs me because I have suffered from this for since before I can remember and I would never want any further generations to suffer from this but I know that the cycle will continue.

i totally agree with where you are coming from because people are always portraying the media to influence their lives. its a battlefield out there lol!

i really liked the way that you put your feelings behind it and how you have worried about looking a certain way or what not. it really shows that everyone does care what other people think what you look like. i know i certainly do maybe not as much as i used to because i just simply stopped caring but i think more people have to start being more comfortable with themselves

I agree the cycle will continue and it is so sad. I think our eyes and our minds for that matter have litteraly been trained to view skinny people as beautiful and sexy but the truth is most of them look disgusting. Similar to what I wrote in my blog though was that they are getting positive attention for it which I think continues to be people motivation. It is unfortunate that so many people recognize this problem but we all just continue to follow.

i gree with u that boys looking ub to the heros with their big muscels, who are sourraunded by hot girls. the media shows you that most women are more attractive to buff guys than to skinny guys. We should have more self-confidence that the media can't influence so much.
